Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
1 Corinthians 1:10 KJV
When I think of unity I think of this bible verse. Unity means being one. In this bible verse Paul is begging us to be unified. And not by himself, but by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Beech means to implore urgently. He is imploring us to speak the same thing. Speaking the same thing means that previous conversation has already been had between the two or more people. God tells us in Philippians 2:2 that we should be like-minded and of one mind. Being unified starts with us being like-minded, agreeing and communicating with one another. The scripture above tells us that there should be no divisions among you but that you be perfectly joined together. The enemy uses division within the body of Christ so that his people will be separated and not on one accord. This matters because if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand (Mark 3:25 KJV). If a team, group, section, etc., is divided, it will not stand the test of time and it will fall. God wants us to prosper and not fall but we can’t do it divided.
God never requires anything from you that is to hard or impossible. It just takes effort and faith to believe. God says that we should be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. Again, I reiterate the importance of the mind. We must be like-minded so we can be perfectly joined together. God doesn’t just want us joined together, He wants us perfectly joined together. Perfect means exactly fitting the need in a certain situation or for a certain purpose. God wants his people to be so unified and fit the need for His purpose in our lives. Both in mind and in judgment, to make the decisions, change lives, help others and walk in the power and authority God has given us. Unity keeps us strong. It allows us to accomplish and handle that which we cannot do alone. Working together will bring forth more results than working alone.
