Hey Ladies! This month I want to talk about hope. Specifically, restored hope! This year may seem like it is already pressing, but have hope! The enemy may have his traps, but they will not prosper! What the enemy meant for evil, God will turn it around for your good! So often, we allow trials, disappointments, and obstacles to defeat us right before God moves. We sabotage our hope with fear, doubt, depression, rebellion, and pride. The bible says in Psalms 23:3, “He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.” Restoration means “the act or PROCESS of returning something to its original condition by repairing it, cleaning it, etc.” Also, it is “the act of returning something that was stolen or lost”. When did you lose hope concerning the will of God for your life? When did the enemy steal your hope concerning that career, or relationship, or future ambition? Are you fighting the process of restoration because the repairs God is making hurt or seem too difficult to get through? Let’s get into it!

I once lost hope that I would ever get back into school and finish. Oh my goodness, if it wasn’t me, it was the school! If it wasn’t the school, it was the finances. If it wasn’t the finances, it was a technicality. I mean, I was in a cycle of deferred hope and disappointment, despite having a word that God would complete what He started in me. I think we are all challenged when what we “see” seems to outweigh what God said. But the great thing about hope is that God makes it so easy to regain and maintain. We literally just need to hear the word of God (Romans 10:17), or rejoice and give God praise (Romans 5:2), or don’t move from what God has already spoken (Colossians 1:23), or patiently wait (1 Thessalonians 1:3), or simply obey (Psalms 78: 7). It wasn’t until I was consistent in doing these things that I saw the manifestation of what God had already spoken concerning me getting back into school and finishing. Do I still have to fight every semester? Yep! Whether the fight is internal or external, the enemy will not stop trying to steal, kill, and destroy your hope, BUT you have to make the decision to hope anyway.  Joel 2:25 says, “And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpillar, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.” God is ready to restore your hope in Him. Stop trying to put your hope in flesh, and hope in the Lord. We must learn to shed our fears and disappointments, and let hope and faith remain.

Look at it from a natural standpoint. The human body sheds skin constantly. We shed millions of skin cells daily. Most of the body’s cells multiply, therefore skin cells are being produced as quickly as others die. The new skin cells allow the skin to maintain a certain thickness. We have to let our hope produce a thickness in our faith! Yes, things happen, disappoints come, but as quickly as they come, we must shed them off and replace them with the word to give us hope.
